Paragon Pipes & Hybrid Organs
Over the past 48 years, while representing Rodgers Organs exclusively, Robert Tall & Associates, Inc. (RTA) has installed (at this writing) 276 electronic/digital/pipe combination instruments. There are two reasons for this impressive success record. Robert Tall believes that an excellent pipe organ is the King! If it were not so, electronic organ companies would not be sampling (recording) famous pipe organs from around the world. Also, it is a matter of space and budget. All pipe instruments are costly and require a larger space.
There would be no point to sample inferior pipes just to claim one has pipes! Over the years there have been healthy discussions on this topic and for RTA, we believe the operative word is “excellence.” If budget and space are no issues, then by all means an excellent pipe organ is preferred. However, if budget and space are a concern, then we believe one should enjoy the best of pipes while enhancing them with the best of electronics.
Rodgers started building combination pipe/electronic instruments in the mid 70’s. As a result, Rodgers has an impressive history of successful installations worldwide. RTA has vast experience in this field with technicians and installers, noted craftsmen, who work equally with both technologies. When interfacing existing pipes to a Rodgers organ, we call that process the “Modernization of a Pipe Organ.”
Why Rodgers and RTA? Three reasons. First, Rodgers has a proven record of success and is a leader in this field; Second, Rodgers has the most advanced digital technology in both sampling (recording and reproducing of renown pipe organs) and Rodgers sound has the technology and controls to better match real windblown pipes. With Rodgers, you don’t hear speakers! Third, Rodgers has created a proprietary digital system to allow maximum use of the pipes through a unit called Pipe Organ Manager (PIM). This system simply works from a computer Excel program which can assign the pipes to play anywhere on the Rodgers console stoplist.
Rodgers Pipe Integration Manager (PIM)
Rodger Pipe Integration Manager is a simple yet sophisticated tool that allows pipe combination instruments to be configured via an Excel file. After creating or modifying the configuration file it can be loaded into the organ via USB drive and the changes take effect instantly. It is all done in the field and at the organ console at any time.
Voices can be configured as expressed or unexpressed, and all stops can be tonally finished note by note on site. The PIM is designed to be the most compact and lightweight product yet.
